For our last night in South Africa, we wanted to relax at a nice resort before starting the trek back to the USA. We wanted a luxurious and romantic hotel where we wouldn’t have to leave the premises (since we knew we would be exhausted from the past 12 days of hectic scheduling and early mornings), so we chose The Majeka House in Stellenbosch, an hour or so outside of Cape Town.
The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous! The lawns were perfectly manicured with flowers blooming around the multiple swimming pools on the premises. Our room was large and spacious, and the bathroom was one of the nicest I have ever seen with heated floors and a large walk in shower with waterfall showerhead. There was also an amazing view of the property and mountains from our balcony.
Upon our arrival, the concierge set us up with spa treatments in the hotel’s lovely Majeka Spa. After our massages, we spent some time at the property’s outdoor pools. Before dinner, we headed to the hotel’s swanky M lounge for cocktails.
The lounge’s décor mixed ultra modern pieces with antique objects. The illuminated bar and piano made for a delightful atmosphere for pre-dinner drinks. When we had “worked” up an appetite, we headed over to the hotel’s Makaron Restaurant. Everything we ordered came out perfect and the wait staff was attentive.
